Greetings Mr. Decker,

Thank you for agreeing to measure the traffic flow through Wakefield and
Sorenson. I feel confident Sorenson will easily qualify as it leads directly
to Snapfinger and is a straight shot with some gentle slopes. We'll see if
Wakefield qualifies as well. Looking forward to seeing the devices come in
for measurement. Is seems as though Wakefield is the only neighborhood in
this immediate area that has been left uncovered as today my kids and I
bicycled through Green Acres and met many a Speed Hump along the way.

Speaking of bicycling, a few days ago my son and I were bicycling from
downtown back to the East Side down the sidewalks of Oconee Street, Lexington
Road, and Barnett Shoals Road. At near dark we crossed Lexington Road at
Barnett Shoals with the light in spite of the nonexistent pedestrian safe
crossing options. We crossed the Lexington Road West Bound Traffic as they
waited at their Red Light and as the Barnett Shoals Traffic turned left with
their Green Arrow and merged onto Lexington West Bound Traffic(where point A
is one my map slide). We got onto the East Side Sidewalk and began pedaling
South down the sidewalk of Barnett Shoals. I was leading and I narrowly
missed riding into two large(2 inch diameter metal protrusions sticking out
of the ground and hovering over the sidewalk(about at my point B). One was
right at head/chest level one was closer to the ground. I warned my son and
he missed them as well. In the photo of the street right behind the rear
bumper of the School Bus up on the sidewalk is where you will find this metal
protrusion. I stopped to examine it and it seems as though it is firmly
installed in the ground and it did not look like a pipe or anything I could
readily identify. It almost looked like the support lines for a telephone
pole but there is no telephone pole there. It has a dulled galvanized steel
look to it and at night it is nearly invisible.

I was meaning to return there and spray paint it white or fluorescent Green,
but I have not done that yet. That was right before Jason Keating had this
discussion about speeding neighbors in Wakefield. I did not know where to
turn until I spoke to Officer Luke, and I cannot help but think you all could
help remedy this as well before some pedestrian or bicyclist gets hurt
running into this hazardous metal protrusion.

We are scheduling the traffic studies. When these are completed we will
contact you with the results. If any of the street meet the criteria, we can
discuss the next step
