Commuter Assistance Day at the Farmersâ Market this Saturday (formerly
Bike to Market Day)!

This Saturday is our first day at the Farmersâ Market this season! This
year weâll be there every third Saturday of the month, with some fun new
activities geared towards helping folks with their car-free commutes
(think route planning, demonstrations of bike maintenance skills, etc).
Stop by and see us at the market OR, even better, email
admin [at] bikeathens.com if you are interested in volunteering! We are still
looking for one volunteer with basic bike maintenance skills for the 9 AM
- 10 AM spot!

Check out the Farmers Market website for more details on time and
location: http://athensfarmersmarket.net/ AND Check out the Athens Transit
website for the Saturday bus schedule! The #5 goes right by Hawthorne and
Oglethorpe, where you can get off, head east on Oglethorpe, and hang a
left on Sunset to arrive at the Market. You can catch the #5 at the
Multi-Modal Transportation Center, the UGA Library, Clarke Central HS, the
ACC library, or Beechwood Shopping Center. Times can be found here:

7th Annual GreenFest Awards Ceremony this Friday April 15

Each year, organizations in the Athens area come together for a
community-wide celebration providing citizens with the opportunity to
raise their awareness of and interest in improving the environment of
their home, yard, business, and community.

On April 15th, we encourage folks to come out to the UGA Odum School of
Ecology from 5:30-7:30 for a reception and awards ceremony honoring
individuals, organizations, and businesses that have made a positive
impact on the environment in Athens over the past year. BikeAthens will be
presenting a Volunteer of the Year Award and an Advocate of the Year
Award, along with a bunch of other really cool local organizations! For
more info, check out the GreenFest website:

BRP back in full swing

BRP workdays are held Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-8 and Sundays from
2-4:30 at the Chase St. warehouses. Volunteers need not have any knowledge
of bicycle maintenance; just be willing to get their hands dirty
repairing, tuning up, cleaning, and outfitting bikes. Feel free to bring
your own repair stands and tools although it is not necessary that you
have these items to participate.

BikeAthens' Bicycle Recycling program, a cooperative venture with local
social support agencies, distributes reconditioned bikes to individuals in
the Athens community who are underserved by private and public
transportation. We rely exclusively on volunteers to recondition the
bikes.
