FYI
Three-lane conversions are proposed for:
a. The conversion of Pulaski Street, between West Broad Street and Dougherty Street,
from a four-lane roadway to a three-lane roadway with bike lanes, as shown in
Attachment #1.
b. The conversion of Athens West Parkway, between Mitchell Bridge Road and Atlanta
Highway, from a four-lane roadway to a three-lane roadway with bike lanes, as
shown in Attachment #2.
c. No changes to the existing four-lane configuration on Hawthorne Avenue, between
Oglethorpe Avenue and Prince Avenue, as shown in Attachment #3.
This is from Thursday's commission agenda, and commissioners will review them Thursday night and could approve them July 5.
Also, four new sidewalk sections are proposed to be built next:
- Oglethorpe Avenue (north side) between Glencrest Avenue and Hawthorne Avenue
- Barnett Shoals Road (west side) between Stones Creek Condominiums and Lexington Road
- Old Epps Bridge Road (north side) between West Broad Street and Hawthorne Avenue
- Barnett Shoals Road (west side) between Brookewood Mill Condominiums and Stones
Creek Condominiums.
ACC keeps a (long) list of proposed sidewalk projects based on requests from public and county departments. They are prioritized according to a points system, but commissioners make final decisions about next sidewalks to be added. The entire list is shown on the link from the meeting agenda (must scroll to read it)
