Annual Meeting and Member Party set for Saturday July 30!

Our Annual Meeting and Member Party is Saturday July 30 at 7 PM! So mark
your calendars, start getting excited, and donât be fooled by the word
âmeetingâ in the title- this is also a party to celebrate our members, all
the things YOU have helped us accomplish, and our 20th Anniversary!!!
Friends and non BikeAthens members are of course welcome as well, so
invite your friends and family too! We will have snacks, a terrapin keg,
speakers, and general good times in our NEW BRP and office space at 160
Tracy Street (itâs right next to our old space, in case any regulars were
wondering). You will also have the opportunity to contribute to our future
success by voting for our new board members and either becoming a member
or renewing your membership!

Curious about the new shop? Hereâs a sneak peek:

Is Traffic Bad in your neighborhood? Here are some possible solutions!

The Traffic Calming Solutions manual describes in easy to understand
language how to navigate through the cityâs Neighborhood Traffic
Management Program (NTMP). This program is the cityâs method for
obtaining safer street infrastructure within your neighborhood. Prepared
by Katie Goodrum for BikeAthens, it illustrates the vast array of traffic
calming solution options, in order to improve pedestrian safety and create
more pleasant neighborhoods for the citizens of Athens. Download a copy
here!

Next Group Ride: August 5, finishing at Heirloom

Mar your calendars for our next Group Ride Friday August 5! We will start
at City Hall at 6 PM and finish at new local restaurant Heirloom
(http://www.heirloomathens.com/) at 815 N. Chase Street. Come for the
ride, the social hour afterwards (where BikeAthens members can expect a
discount!), or both!

The BikeAthens Group Ride is a leisurely, law abiding group bicycle ride
around Athens. The purpose of the ride is to provide a safe, enjoyable
atmosphere for all ages and skill levels to ride bicycles, and to
demonstrate that bicycles, vehicles under state law, belong on our public
streets and roadways. These rides are a great way to meet other cyclists,
become more comfortable riding in Athens, find easy routes around town,
and to gain some experience riding in a group.
Remember to bring your helmet, a water bottle, and your friends!

BRP Volunteer Opportunities

BRP workdays are held Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-8 PM and Sundays from
2-4:30 PM at the Chase St. warehouses. Volunteers need not have any
knowledge of bicycle maintenance; just be willing to get their hands dirty
repairing, tuning up, cleaning, and outfitting bikes. Feel free to bring
your own repair stands and tools although it is not necessary that you
have these items to participate.

BikeAthens' Bicycle Recycling program, a cooperative venture with local
social support agencies, distributes reconditioned bikes to individuals in
the Athens community who are underserved by private and public
transportation. We rely exclusively on volunteers to recondition the
bikes.
