Many District 5 residents will be happy to know that this Study includes some of the elements of the CAPPA (Community Approach to Planning Prince Avenue) proposal from several years ago, as well as other reports such as BRAC for the Navy School. The study will be displayed for drop in review at the Planning Department from October 7 to November 3. The Planning Department will be looking for input on the Study from the community at two public meetings held on October 18 and 25, tentatively scheduled for 5-7 PM. The Planning Commission will then vote to approve, deny, or table the plan on November 3. If approved it will then be placed on the Commissionâs agenda to be discussed in November and voted on in December. For more information of the plan contact Bruce Lonnee at 706-613-3515 or bruce.lonnee [at] athensclarkecounty.com. *********************************************************** BRP Volunteer Opportunities BRP workdays are held Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-8 PM and Sundays from 2-4:30 PM at the Chase St. warehouses. Volunteers need not have any knowledge of bicycle maintenance; just be willing to get their hands dirty repairing, tuning up, cleaning, and outfitting bikes. Feel free to bring your own repair stands and tools although it is not necessary that you have these items to participate. BikeAthens' Bicycle Recycling program, a cooperative venture with local social support agencies, distributes reconditioned bikes to individuals in the Athens community who are underserved by private and public transportation. We rely exclusively on volunteers to recondition the bikes.
