Ticket to Ride, Sat, Mar 24: Anytime between 9:30am-2:30pm BRP Bike Sale, Sun, Apr 1: Anytime between 1-4pm Group Ride (tablers or ride leaders), Fri, Apr 6: 6-7pm Commuter Assistance Day, Sat, Apr 21: Anytime between 8am-12pm Twilight Criterium, Sat, Apr 28: Anytime between 8am-5pm If youâd like to volunteer or have any questions, email volunteermanager [at] bikeathens.com *********************************************************** 2. Ticket to Ride in 2 weeks The annual Athens-Maxeys training ride for Savannah has joined forces with Firefly Trail, Inc. to become the March 24th Firefly Trail Ticket to Ride. This is the inaugural bike ride/tour to build support and awareness of the Firefly Trail. Come explore the route of the proposed rail-to-trail project along roads through the scenic countryside and usually within a few yards of the historic Georgia Railroad corridor where the trail will be installed. FREE, open to all, and fully supported with SAG stations and refreshments at the depot and whistle stops. BRP Volunteer Opportunities BRP workdays are held Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-8 PM and Sundays from 2-4:30 PM at the Chase St. warehouses. Come volunteer with us! New volunteers are best on Wednesdays. No skills necessary - we have plenty of volunteer jobs for all levels of experience. Just be willing to get your hands dirty. BikeAthens' Bicycle Recycling program, a cooperative venture with local social support agencies, distributes reconditioned bikes to individuals in the Athens community who are underserved by private and public transportation. Down the Road and Elsewhere in Athens: National Bike Summit, March 20-22 Tuesday through Thursday, March 20-22 in Washington, DC, this is your opportunity to meet directly with your Congressional representative to make sure Congress doesnât turn back the clock on decades of hard-fought progress towards creating a more walkable and bicycle-friendly America. These are all in great condition, having passed our 78 point checklist, multiple test rides, and hipster style check. No, weâre not kidding - these are some good looking bicycles. Road, mountain, hybrid, and cruiser bikes are available. Photos coming soon... ACHFâs Green Bike Tour, May 5 Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation has planned a green bike tour of the historic Cobbham, Boulevard, Normaltown, and Pulaski Heights neighborhoods. A BikeAthens representative will speak on transportation issues unique to Athens. A few other Athenians will speak about infill and development, and tour participants are eligible for LEED/AIA continuing education credits. More details soon...
