1. May is National Bike Month!

If you haven't already, give your two-wheeled friend a spring cleaning and
join us for a host of events!  The May 4th BikeAthens Group Ride will
celebrate the start of the month.  Bike to Work Week is May 14-18, ending
with Bike to Work Day on Friday May 18th!  Stay tuned for more information
on BikeAthens events during this bicycle-filled month!

2. Bike to Work Day and Movie Night at Flickr, May 18

Friday, May 18, from 4-7pm, BikeAthens will host a Bike Month Movie Night
and Bike to Work Day commuter assistance table.  From 4-5pm, learn about
how to improve your commute by talking with a BikeAthens representative
about safe and efficient routes around town.  Then at 5pm, the movies will
start as a finale to Bike Week.  You will not be disappointed.  Weâll have
a host of great bike-related short films and movies.

3. Bike to Market Day with Bike Tune-Ups, May 19

Visit us at the Athens Farmers Market http://athensfarmersmarket.net at
Bishop Park next Saturday.  Each month will focus on a different theme as
it relates to bike safety and education.  This month, weâll host a bike
repair stand with FREE tune-ups brought to you by Benâs Bikes and Sunshine
Cycles, with assistance from the Bike Recycling Program shop.  You may
even learn some basic repair skills as you observe their work.  Prizes
available.  Also come to learn about BikeAthens, and take the opportunity

5. BRP Volunteer Opportunities

BRP workdays are held Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-8 PM and Sundays from
2-4:30 PM at the Chase St. warehouses.  Come volunteer with us!  New
volunteers are best on Wednesdays.  No skills necessary - we have plenty
of volunteer jobs for all levels of experience.  Just be willing to get
your hands dirty.

BikeAthens' Bicycle Recycling program, a cooperative venture with local
social support agencies, distributes reconditioned bikes to individuals in
the Athens community who are underserved by private and public
transportation. We rely exclusively on volunteers to recondition the

Tour de Farm, 2012, May 26 - 28
Brought to you by PLACE, this bicycle tour over Memorial Day weekend seeks
to reconnect the community to their local food sources in and around
Athens, Georgia.  The tour will visit a total of 8 farms, covering a
distance of 100 miles over 3 days.  Theyâll visit about 2-3 farms per day,
stopping for a tour, and a snack or meal, and then camping out for 2
nights.   $175 covers all your meals, the vans to transport gear and food,
a t-shirt, and compensation for the farmer's time and space, with all
proceeds being donated to PLACE.
